Rainbow!

Sleepy Cub!
Ah! Springtime in the south... where everytime it rains we live in a mini-tropical jungle! Last week on my way to work yet another monsoon had hit, it was raining hard most of the day. But by the time I got to work it has slowed to a slight drizzle with the sun breaking through the clouds... And this was the sight that greeted me on my climb up the hill to the Ambulance side of the ER....

Walking up the hill...

From underneath the canopy...

It has been a longtime since I've seen one. It was HUGE! My cam phone doesn't do it justice. It looked like you could run out to the next street and touch it... I took it as a good omen, and we did have a pretty decent night at work... decent of the ER anyway...

WAKE UP!!!!

  • Feb. 3rd, 2009 at 3:31 PM
Sleepy Cub!
Ever have those days where you slept ok. But  a few hours after waking up you are slow lethargic and just wanna veg out and nap? Thats been my day... I have been soooo sleepy, so lethargic, and out of energy! And I got to bed at a decent time, and sleep pretty good.... Its my inner bear wanting to hibernate.... UGH! I gotta wake up! Too much to do!!

Writer's block....

  • Feb. 1st, 2009 at 9:57 PM

Ughhh!! I had stuff to write about, but then writers block hit me after watching the game... it'll hit me again probably when I'm about to hit the bed.

I watched the Superbowl tonight. I really didn't have team to cheer for, it would've been nice to see the Cards win since they never have, but then the Steelers are AFC, LOL.    But... OMG! The GI Joe and Transformer previews, totally took me by suprise!!!

I went to NBC.com and watched some of the commercials I missed and,  OMG!!!! Matt Light (Pats offensive lineman, that I've had a HUGE crush on for years!) on the SOBE commerical!!!!
www.nbc.com/super-bowl/commercials/video/clips/sobe-lizard-lake-3d/982022/

Looks like he dropped some weight and firmed up! *DROOLZ*

Well, damn, thats about all I can remember! lol

*Grumble, grumble* Stressed!!!!

Gohan is pissed
Well, it has been an eventful past day. I had to go to a staff meeting at work this morning... and my car was acting a bit funny. It kept sounding like it was revving too high, though the RPM meter didn't show anything. Got to work fine, then the drive home is a different story.  The car started fine, and I got out of the parking tower fine, but the drive through town the car kept revving and revving, I couldn't hardly get above 40 mph, the RPM meter kept jumping wildly. It was shaking and stuttering. I've had this car since 2002, I know at what speed and RPM the car shifts gears, it was like the car was trying to shift but nothing was happening.

All this leads me to believe it was the transmission. After talking to my parents thats what they thought too. Let me give some background on my car. Its a Pontiac Grand Am GT, 1998 model with 184+k miles on it. The paint is coming off, the interior is ragged, there is damage on the rear passenger door/wheel well from a wreck a few years ago. So needless to say the car is not worth putting a transmission in. I get nervous everytime I drive it, worrying wheither when its gonna die on me for good, especially when I have to go  to Memphis for one of my tests.

So after a lil thought and refiguring my finances, my Dad took me out and the search for a new car began. So, I found a blue 2006 Chevy Cobalt. A wonderful smaller car, that gets 24/32!! The only feature that she doesn't have is power windows, but that is just one less thing to break. She only has 50,000 miles for a 2006 I figured that was pretty good compared to some of the other things I've looked at. 220 including a great warrent (my credit score was better than I thought)! I'll get some pics up in the next few days.

But it couldn't have come at a worse time.... if only it had waited for May. By then I'd have most everything saved for school. The last thing I needed was a car payment. With even as low as the payment is it still cuts my the money I was trying to save for schoo in half. I have a few ideas about how to change my finances around that'll help with the school expenses, even though it'll put me a little more deeper in debt. But once school is over and done with, I can start climbing out of debt..... So needless to say its been a rather stressful day! The worst part of the day was driving my old car back to the dealership,  I almost didn't make it... she almost stopped on several occasions.

But it was sad in a way... I've had that car for so long, we've been through alot together! It was kinda like putting an old friend to rest/pasture. But its just another part of my pass to put behind me. Here's looking to the future!

Cold, tired, hungry...

  • Jan. 19th, 2009 at 6:58 PM
Sleepy Cub!
Just got in from the gym... and had a pretty good workout considering I only had about 4 hrs sleep (damn insomina). Now I'm tried and hungry... and not to mention COLD!! I HATE this time of year, January especially. I start to long for spring/summer, the beach, anything to do with warm weather.

Speaking of which, I start to replay one of my alltime favorite movies during this part of the year...

Now, to nap or not to nap, that is the question for after supper, lol.

Football....

  • Jan. 11th, 2009 at 7:40 PM

Well, football season is officially over for me today... Titans lost yesterday, the Giants and Chargers lost today... Those were the only teams I've been really watching, so the Superbowl will be just a moot point for me. I really wanted to see the Titans battle the Giants for the Superbowl, *sigh* maybe next year.

But still... it was a magical year for my Titans! I just wish they hadn't lost to the Ravens.... ugh!!! I really want to see the Ravens and Eagles lose next week!

Anyway, there's always next season!

Getting away...

...2009...

Contemplative
I sit here with a warm mug of green tea pondering all that 2009 can/could/will hold for me. If everything pans out as planned, this year is going to be VERY busy. Its going to be a year of transition (both professionally and personally), cleaning up some loose ends, putting the past in the past and moving on.

Sorry to be so criptic, but it'd be very hard to recap everything that has happened since April 2004. I'm excited! Its gonna be so nice to some of this behind me.

I really don't have many resolutions just yet for this year. I need to think on that one. I do, however, have alot of goals I want to achieve this year. But... there is ALOT of work to be done between now and then.... So I need to get BUSY! Wish me luck! And I wish for all of you and VERY happy and prosporous 2009!!

Christmas Day!!!

  • Dec. 25th, 2008 at 4:19 PM

Now, as a finale for Christmas Day, a version of my ALL TIME FAVORITE carol:

Now, I'm usually a traditionalist when it comes to carols. But this verison is stunning and soul-stirring!  Hope ya'll are having a WONDERFUL day! I know I am!  =D

Christmas time!

  • Dec. 25th, 2008 at 12:19 AM

First of all I want to wish everyone a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!  I'm a little late but here are a few pics!

The tree this year...

When my parents got married back in the early 70's they didn't have much money, like most young couples starting out. So Momma hand made Christmas ornimates. Here are a few of my personal favorites...

They are older than me and we still use them every year!! And its our tradition that we leave the lights on all night every Christmas Eve. Santa had to see! LOL   : )

Sitting here, listen to Enya's new album/Christmas album "And Winter Came" (I LOVE her music), I feel  totally peaceful!! Sleep well everyone! And have a wonderful Christmas day!

Effort...

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 7:44 PM

In effort get myself in a better mood... here is one of my new favorite Christmas songs!!!

This song says it all!!!

Just FUCKING peachy....

  • Dec. 17th, 2008 at 6:58 PM
Gohan Powered up
I'm supposed to be at work right now.... but less than an hour ago I had gotten all my stuff for work together and put in the car, started the car, started to put it in reverse and nothing.... the gear shift won't move! I tried and tried but it won't shift... its like its stuck or something. Just FUCKING peachy....

Now I don't claim to know about cars... I'm medical, ask me about that. But this are is about 10 years old, has almost 200,000 miles on her, been in a few fender benders, and has multiple shakes, jiggles, grinds and other things going on.  If she doesn't move in the morning I'll have to call the wrecker...

Now comes then monetary delemia :
Depending on what the garage says it'll cost to fix her... I'm not sure I want too. I'll have to dip into my school savings if I do. I want to get a more dependable car, I get nervous every time I have to drive her a long distance. But I still have ALOT of money to save for school. I was hoping she would last till at least May then I'd have the extra funds to get another vehicle.

So do I just fix her? Or do I look into getting something newer?

Question: Protein Powder

  • Dec. 16th, 2008 at 9:44 AM

For my fellow lifters out there... what brands of protein powder do ya'll use that taste good? I don't like my current brand and am looking for a change of flavor!

Winter storms....

  • Dec. 9th, 2008 at 3:43 PM
Contemplative
Now, winter is usually a wet season around this area. But today is something different... Thunderstorms... Thunderstorms in the dead of winter (its not technically winter yet, but you get my drift) very unusual... and a bit scary given the frequent incidence of winter tornados here. But I've been enjoying hearing the thunder boom, hearing the heavy rain ping off the roof, and the occasional flash of lightening... all in all PERFECT day to stay wrapped up on the couch with all the lights off, radio/TV off and just sit in silence and listen to the symphony of nature! AH!!! (I think I was a druid or monk in a former life, lol).
